Best Music Tracks to Accompany You on Your Stag Party

Great article here by Rob Jewell setting out what he thinks would be the best playlist for a stag weekend. What do you think? Cheesy or spot on?

"When you are planning a stag weekend, a top best man will leave no stone unturned in their quest for the ultimate send off. Making sure you’ve got the music sorted is no exception. Make sure you’ve got these classics in your playlist.

1. Queen – Greatest Hits Part 1
For the journey there, why not choose one of the ultimate driving compilations of all time. Solid gold classics, that everyone in a stag party will know most of. It may be a bit clichhd these days, but it’s a fantastic album from start to finish.

2. Various Artists Motown 50
If you like your music a little more groovy than Freddie and the boys, then this compilation spanning 50 years of Detroit’s finest export will certainly get you and your boys in the mood for a good time.

3. The Smiths The Smiths
Every stag party is almost obligated to be full of jokes about how much life will change for the worse when the big day finally comes. Underline these gags with the wailing of Morrisey and company. As well as being thoroughly miserable, their self-titled album contains many classics.

4. Oasis Definitely Maybe
Relive your youth if you’re a child of the 90s and listen to some great tunes if you’re not! The BBC has described the tracks contained within as “heroic, gigantic pop monuments” and who can argue with that?

5. Frankie Goes to Hollywood – Welcome to the Pleasuredome
If your stag experience is going to include a spot of paintballing action, the frenzied beat of Two Tribes from this album is bound to get you pumped up, whilst Relax features as one of Q magazine’s top tracks from the 1908s.

6. Live at the Apollo James Brown
You’ve got the activities out of the way, headed back to your hotel room to start the serious business of getting ready to hit the bars. Who better to soundtrack your getting ready than the Godfather of Soul at his brilliant best?

7. Total Madness – Madness
When you’re out and about with your mates, Madness and their nutty best of album is guaranteed to raise a smile and keep the party rolling.

8. Fatboy Slim – You’ve Come A Long Way Baby
Featuring some of the ultimate Saturday night dancing songs, Fatboy Slim’s magnificent album will get everyone in your party up and boogying.

9. Nirvana MTV Unplugged
Featuring chilled out versions of many Nirvana standards, this is a must for the post club, post kebab comedown before you and your mates all turn in for the night.

10. John Cage 4:33
273 seconds of pure silence, that may be required on constant repeat the morning following your stag weekend!
