SAVVY brides-to-be are cutting back on their hen-dos under the credit crunch - while grooms-to-be are splashing out £180 a head on bashes.
Thrifty hens are economising by making their pre-marital celebrations last only one day - whereas three-quarters of party-animal stags want theirs to last for a weekend or longer.
Women spend £118 on their pre-marriage knees-up, £61 less than their male counterparts, according to a survey by Hotels.com and Wedding Ideas magazine.
And the girls are far more likely to stay in the UK to party, while their fellas head off abroad.
A huge 96 per cent of brides-to-be will celebrate in the UK, with 28 per cent not venturing further than their hometowns.
Nine of the top ten hen-party destinations are in the UK, with London, Brighton and Edinburgh topping the list.
However, 32 per cent of stags are planning parties overseas - with London, Prague and Amsterdam the three most popular destinations.
Rachel Moschke, Wedding Ideas editor, says: "The hen-do is one area where brides feel like they need to keep their eye on the budget.
"They are choosing to celebrate in the UK so there is more in the kitty for their big day.
